This post sums up the primary lesson I learned at Tom Spanbauer’s table: write it right the first time. That doesn’t mean you won’t need more drafts to revise and make it better. But learning how to write upfront saves a lot of time.

Vomit. I’m glad you use that here. it feels freeing, visceral, sometimes literal. For me, specifically, it’s not the kind of vomit that comes after eating a bad clam, it’s the kind where a finger has its way with the back of a throat… Where one’s eyes water… the kind that promises some relief.
