It's September and that means...time for a back-to-school book exchange! Welcome back, and let's launch our ongoing school-without-a-school, forever teaching each other. Right?
I'll host, at Rose City Book Pub.
Bring a book you'd like to give away, and perhaps leave with a book somebody else has chosen. Bring something interesting.
This is about sharing, passing word on, making note of new authors, and most of all, conversation.
If you're an author and you'd like to bring one of your own books, that's great! I welcome it!
If you've read something you love, bring a copy! Give it away!
If you'd like to write in a book and pass it along, as a way of passing notes in class, I think that's dreamy. Annotated books are awesome.
I've scheduled this for October 1st, at Rose City Book Pub.
In this school-without-a school, nobody is ever tardy. Show up when you can, between 3:00 and about 7:00 perhaps...
We're all passing every class, and the class never ends because the study is time and being human.
Join me?
When:
Sunday, October 1st.
Time: 3:00.
Where: Rose City Book Pub
Address: 1329 NE Fremont St., Portland.
What to Expect: A mixer, with books to share...
What it's not:
-Not a book fair, or small press fair...don't bring stacks of inventory! It's great to bring work you've published, edited, written, chosen...but there will be no book stalls or tables for publishers/authors.
--Not a flea market or Goodwill box. Don't bring stuff you want to get rid of. Bring a book you love, to pass along!
Aside from that, this is a nonhierarchical, all inclusive, welcoming, open-minded event. You belong here.
Have I forgotten anything?
xo
ps--If you come empty-handed...you are 100% still just as welcome!
Dang! I’ll be out of town. But I’ll spread the word! And if you do another one later, consider me there with bells on.
What a great idea. I wish I lived closer.
