If there’s one thing I’d like, it’s to talk about stories with people who are interested in… stories!
Let’s see how it shakes out! Part craft seminar, part book group (only with much shorter reading assignments, sometimes including flash fiction) …Let’s keep it simple. I’m going to post a link to a story behind the paywall. These won’t be my stories, but stories I take an interest in, that make me happy, make me think or…freak out, maybe, at times…ha!
I’ve been thinking about hosting a live discussion group. For now, we’ll stick to the basics. We can share ideas in the comments…We’ll see how it goes.
One request: Whatever you may think about the story (or stories, perhaps) speak as though the writer could be listening in.
The writer may or may not follow this newsletter. If they are part of the conversation, I’ll generally let you know. But anyone can join later, and the comments would still be present. We just want to come from a place of respect. I know you’re all great with this. I’ve worked with so many of you in workshops, classes, events and anthologies, and you’re awesome.
I’m going to put my focus on stories available online to avoid any copyright violations. Seems a good policy—because I’m not a lawyer.
If you have a story published online, feel free to suggest it! No guarantees, but you can always make the suggestion. I am going to stick to published stories, any publication.
Reading and listening to short stories is a necessary indulgence.
I look forward to kicking around ideas, thoughts, insights and…a few jokes…with you!
Are you in?
