Hey there!
I’ve been having a great time lately talking with students and former students about stories, craft, values, what we like and love in writing in general and in fiction in particular.
There are so many amazing new online and print lit magazines, some fly-by-night, some made to burn, others that have been around for a hundred years.
With the new year, I’m going to begin posting links to stories I’ve found from around the web, and perhaps a few words about why I like them, and at times I’ll dip into craft tips, theory, larger thoughts.
Think of it as a book group for story-length work. We’ll see how it goes, but those who subscribe can also send in suggestions, point me toward your own work if you have it out in the world (no promises of reposting or otherwise mentioning…it’s possible, but no promises…)
I think it’ll be great. I’m a little obsessive about story, as a form, really….my first love.
Those who subscribe can connect with each other in conversation, and we’ll have a shared body of reading, at least within this set of stories. You don’t have to read the posts on Sunday, of course. It’ll be there for you.
If you’re writing, it’s a craft discussion. If you’re reading, it’s about reading stories. There’s room for anyone to jump in.
Every Sunday of 2023.
Join? I appreciate you.

Excited for this! Great to have a virtual place to discuss story craft for all us not-local-to-Portland-ers :)
