Hello, from Burnaby Heights!
Such a nice note, yesterday—
A knockout up-and-coming author (professional in other areas) emailed to say he’s had a killer story accepted.
I love it! I had the opportunity to offer a few suggestions along the way and am honored.
Always good to read new work, and so happy when an author breaks through!
I won’t shout him out by name. It’s his victory to share with friends and family and the world. I’m just here, helping when I can, loving the writing process and doing a victory lap for his success.
When one person finds publication, it’s a sign for everyone else to keep working, keep writing, keep thinking and talking. Keep going. When it’s ready, send work out. There’s the myth of the lone writer, but really, the fine tuning is done in community.
The possibility is always out there. It’s not easy, publication can be elusive, but that’s the work of making work.
It’s never too late to get started. It’s never too late to try. It’s never too late to revise. As long as you’re alive, it’s time to write.
I’m considering starting up another round of IRL workshops, and I’m here for manuscript critique.
Take care, all love. Hope you’re doing okay.
Monica
“There’s the myth of the lone writer, but really, the fine tuning is done in community.” So true--and so important to remember. Thank you!
